Drew McIntyre: Ideally We’ll Separate The World Titles And Get Them Back On Their Respective Shows

Drew McIntyre expresses his hope that WWE will split the world titles and put them back on their respective shows.

Roman Reigns has held the Universal Championship since Payback 2020. He defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship and unify the titles at WrestleMania 38, and he has reigned supreme with both of them ever since.

Speaking with Scott Fishman for Pro Wrestling Illustrated, McIntyre was asked to name the next milestone that he’s chasing. He made it clear that he wants to win a title in front of the fans, as his previous championship run came during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He noted that it would have been a great moment if he could have dethroned Reigns at WWE Clash at the Castle before he stated that, in an ideal situation, the world titles would be separated. McIntyre also gave Reigns credit for his successful reign.

“I wanna get a title in front of live fans,” McIntyre said. “I had it for 300 days with nobody there. Obviously Clash [at the Castle] would have been an awesome moment if I was able to pull it off. Roman’s on this run of a lifetime right now. Curious to see where that goes. Ideally we’ll get those titles separated back on their respective shows and back on the live events and all over. But can’t deny what Roman’s done with them and how he’s representing [WWE] as champion.”

Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Sami Zayn at WWE Elimination Chamber. More information is available here. Cody Rhodes is set to challenge for the gold at WWE WrestleMania 39.
