Britt Baker Is Having The Time Of Her Life Supporting Jamie Hayter And Watching Her Take Over

Starting as a side character through Britt Baker’s rise in AEW, Jamie Hayter now stands as the focal figure in the women’s locker room.

At Full Gear in November, Jamie Hayter secured the AEW Women’s Championship in a victory over Toni Storm. In a reversal of roles, former champion Britt Baker now gathers in support of her ally, as Hayter soars to new heights.

“So right now, I have to tell you, I’m having the time of my life supporting Jamie Hayter and just watching her take over the world because this is my girl,” Baker told Denton Day of Sirius XM’s Big Ten Radio. “This is somebody who I single-handedly went to Tony Khan and said, ‘We need Jamie Hayter. She’s the best, she’s the future.’ Look, am I wrong? Very rarely am I wrong and I’m certainly not wrong here.”

“She’s just the best, and she’s so fun. Her and I, we’re really good friends in real life, and we have so much chemistry on camera together. We’re having the time of our lives right now. I get to be on TV with my home girl. What is life right now? But obviously, professional wrestling is weird in that you can say you’re the best 100 times, but unless you have gold around your waist to prove it, then people can call you out and say you’re a liar. So eventually, I do want gold eventually. But right now, I’m having a lot of fun with Jamie and making sure she keeps her gold.”

Baker also touched on Hayter’s evolution as a performer. The two first met in early 2019 in London, where they later battled in Pro-Wrestling EVE. Since then, they kept in touch and developed a close friendship. In October 2019, Hayter made her AEW debut, ironically, against Britt Baker. Hayter would then return and sign with All Elite Wrestling nearly a year later. From there, she forged an on-screen alliance with Baker and Rebel, finally claiming her own gold in November 2022.

“Jamie’s had all of this in her from the start,” Baker said. “Wrestling on TV and wrestling for a new company, and the storylines and everything, it just takes time. When it’s given enough time and enough pressure, because pressure makes diamonds, it’s the perfect storm for what we have right now. I think Jamie’s gonna be a huge star for many years to come.”

“But right now, we’re seeing what we’re gonna see into infinity and beyond with Jamie Hayter. It’s really, really fun to be a part of it, and fans are so goofy. They make their own narratives and say, ‘Oh, this has to be killing Britt.’ No, this is my friend. You’re speaking more on your character right now than you are mine because I want her to succeed, so I don’t know how you feel about your friends, but I feel for your friends. I want my girl to succeed.”
