Britt Baker On People Who Take Issue With Women’s Wrestlers Bleeding: I’d Like To Ask Why And Understand Their Logic

Britt Baker doesn’t understand why people have issues with women bleeding in professional wrestling matches.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Britt Baker recently sat down with Denton Day of Sirius XM’s Big Ten Radio to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked what her reaction is to the older wrestlers who have podcasts that say women shouldn’t be bleeding in professional wrestling, Baker believes it would be a conversation she’d need to have with them first before she can give a proper answer.

“I would like to talk to them and ask why. I would like to know really what their logic is for that and just understand why,” Britt Baker said. “Especially where we’re at in this day and age, and women are main eventing just as much as the men. So I can’t really answer that question until I would hear their logic as to why they feel that way. And then I would have probably 12 good arguments for it, but I can’t answer until I know what specifically they’re talking about.

“But it wasn’t just old wrestlers. I mean, there was a lot of people that said, women shouldn’t bleed, women shouldn’t do hardcore matches. But for every one that says that, there’s 50 more that are saying it’s awesome and these women are badasses, and it’s empowering. So you’re never going to please everybody.”

Baker, who has been busted open in a few matches including her infamous St. Patrick’s Day Lights Out match against Thunder Rosa, said that you have to work for the people that do appreciate your work.

“Everybody has their own flavor, and that’s something that’s really hard to come to peace with in professional wrestling. You’re never going to make everybody happy. And sometimes that might mean your favorite wrestler looks down on what you’re doing. But you can’t let that get to you. You just have to think of what you’re doing for the people that are appreciative.”
