WWE has reportedly discussed bringing back a former tag team.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, the company has had internal discussions about the potential return of the Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar). The two powerhouses debuted in 2016 and had a successful run on NXT before they were called up to RAW in 2018. They won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and both the NXT and RAW Tag Team Championship during their initial run.
Sapp reports that the company has also discussed the possibility of bring back the team’s original manager, Paul Ellering. The duo were later managed by Drake Maverick early on in their main roster run before they parted ways with him.
WWE released the Authors of Pain in 2020, and they haven’t wrestled since. They returned to the business for the attempted Wrestling Entertainment Series in 2022; the show was first postponed and later canceled.
