The Watch List takes a look at what matches you should be watching while you’re at home and they come recommended by your favorite professional wrestling stars.
WrestleZone recently spoke with the Authors Of Pain, who looked back on their impressive run in NXT. AOP’s Gzim Selmani and Sunny Dhinsa are proud of working with teams like DIY and American Alpha because it not only showed how imposing they could be, but it also highlighted how athletic they could be as well.
“Well, for me, to be honest, I think the ladder match with Johnny Gargano and [Tommaso Ciampa], DIY, I feel like that was one of the matches where we really got to shine,” Gzim explained. “We really got to show the world that we are one of the most brutal, barbaric tag teams out there and we were willing to take moves, tell stories in the matches. I think we did a lot of stuff there for the first time that hadn’t been seen in WWE. We took German suplexes from the top of a ladder through other ladders [performed] by people half our size. We really told a story there. You don’t have to be big, you don’t have to be small, just give them a fighting chance. I think that was one of the matches where if you look back at it, you really see the true AOP and who we wanted to be in the ring.
“Also, of course, our match with DIY and The Revival, the triple threat tag team match. I think that was one of the matches where we really showed our skills,” Gzim added. “We have so many good matches, but I think those two are the AOP/LOP we tried to show to the world and show the entertainment aspect of it.”
“Not a match, but our debut when we took out American Alpha. Just think of that,” Sunny added. “We’re taking heads.”
