AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming Results (12/14): World Title Match And More

Chris Jericho has a temper tantrum backstage.

Tay Melo (with Sammy Guevara) vs. Ruby Soho

Melo kicks Soho off the apron while they’re making their entrance. They brawl around ringside, and Melo gains the upper hand. They get in the ring, and Soho perseveres with a suplex. Melo drills Soho with a back elbow. Soho rocks Melo with a kick, and Tay leaves the ring. She starts walking away, but it’s a trap, as she slams Soho onto the ramp. Melo takes control and grounds Soho. ‘The Runaway” fires up with a series of strikes, but Melo takes the advantage right back. Ruby rallies and kicks Melo in the corner. She repeatedly slams Melo face-first into the turnbuckle pad. Soho gets a two count with a slam to the mat. Melo nails Soho with a pump kick. Melo gets a two count with a piledriver. Soho counters the Tay-KO and slams her with the Destination Unknown for the win.

Winner: Ruby Soho

Anna Jay attacks Soho after the match. Jay drives Ruby to the mat face-first.

Alex Marvez asks Hangman Page for a medical update. Hangman recalls how he was knocked out when he got a concussion. He remembers how he couldn’t remember his son’s name when the doctors asked him, and if Moxley wants to drag him to hell, he’s taking “Mox” with him.

Winner Take All Match for the AEW World Championship and Dynamite Diamond Ring: MJF (c) vs. Ricky Starks (Dynamite Diamond Ring winner)

MJF gets in Starks’ face and raises the title. The two men have a heated staredown and trade words. They feel each other out. MJF struts and plays to the crowd. Starks sends MJF to the outside, and the champion walks into the crowd. MJF gets back in the ring and scores a two count on a pin attempt. He gets a few more two counts on some pin attempts. Starks drops MJF with a clothesline. MJF thumbs Starks in the eye and slings him into the ropes. The challenger rolls out of the ring as the champion takes control. MJF grounds Starks. The challenger gets a two count on a pin attempt, but MJF traps him in an abdominal stretch. Starks rallies with a clothesline. He catches MJF by surprise with a flurry of offense. Starks gets a two count with a Liger Bomb. MJF counters the Roshambo. They trade pin attempts, and MJF powerbombs Starks on his knee.

The competitors trade blows. Starks kicks MJF in the face and drops the champion with a Spear, but his hurt arm prevents him from going for the pin. He eventually goes for the pin, but MJF kicks out and immediately locks in the Salt of the Earth armbar. MJF wrenches the arm, and Starks reaches the ropes. He reverses another attempt at the armbar into a pin attempt for a two count. They trade pin attempts, and Starks hits a superkick, MJF counters the Liger Bomb and a Roshambo. MJF uses the referee as a human shield, shoves him aside, and kicks Starks below the belt. He then rolls Starks up for the win.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: MJF

After the match, Bryan Danielson interrupts MJF’s entrance. He chases the champon, who escapes into the crowd. Danielson raises Starks’ hand to close the show.
