Sting Reflects On Reuniting With The Great Muta At AEW Grand Slam

Sting reunited with a long-time ally, and former foe, at AEW Rampage: Grand Slam, when The Great Muta saved him from Buddy Matthews and The House of Black.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Sting shared his thoughts on the reunion and noted that it made him feel nostalgic.

“That was a moment,” Sting said. “I had flashbacks when he stepped into the ring. Seeing him face to face, it took me back in time.”

“The Icon” will be part of Muta’s retirement show, fittingly titled “The Great Muta Final Bye-Bye”, which will be held by Pro Wrestling NOAH on January 22. He made it clear that he’s excited to share the ring with the legend one more time.

“I know my days are numbered, so I’m trying to make the most out of the time left and give the fans everything I have before this wave comes into shore for good,” Sting said. “I’m grateful that Muta was able to be here with me in the United States. That’s a memory I’m going to hold onto, and it signifies the end of our era. I’m looking forward to having one last grand hoorah with The Great Muta, especially in Japan.”

Sting noted that he wants to have Darby Alin be the duo’s tag team partner for the match and emphasized that being part of it will be an honor.

“I’m trying to get Darby Allin to come with me,” Sting said. “It’s such an honor, especially since that will be his last night as The Great Muta character.”
