Andrade El Idolo: I Was Supposed To Face Will Ospreay, But Plans Changed

Andrade El Idolo has provided clarification on his comment that he can’t work with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He also revealed that there had been a plan for him to face one of the promotion’s top stars.

In a tweet on June 13, the AEW star stated that he’s unable to work with NJPW, and he “thanked” AAA and CMLL. Luchablog subsequently reported that Andrade isn’t planned for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

On June 17, Andrade did an interview with Hugo Savinovich of Lucha Libre Online, and he discussed the situation. He stated that he was set to face Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door, and he was going to travel to Japan to set the match up. However, these plans changed. He also noted that he was booked and subsequently removed from AAA’s TripleMania Tijuana show. Credit to LuchaBlog for the translation:

In the same interview, Andrade went on to express his frustration that he can’t wrestle for NJPW due to his work with AAA, and the latter promotion isn’t actually booking him, so he’s missing out on dates altogether.

While Andrade isn’t currently scheduled for Forbidden Door; Ospreay is set to compete. “The Commonwealth Kingpin” will face Orange Cassidy at the pay-per-view.
