Kevin Owens Says It’s ‘Surreal’ To Have A WrestleMania Program With His All-Time Favorite Wrestler

Kevin Owens is getting a chance to work with his favorite wrestler of all time.

WWE star Kevin Owens is set to host The KO Show during night one of WrestleMania 38 and Owens’ special guest will be none other than WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Owens recently spoke with Abe Kanan to discuss what it means to him that he is about to have a program with Austin at WrestleMania.

“Yeah, I wanna give credit where credit is due for everybody but I don’t think there’s anything bigger than Stone Cold Steve Austin coming back at WrestleMania, for what seems to be a confrontation, the way he spoke makes me think we’re not gonna have a nice chat, he certainly seems inclined to do something else and I’m more than happy to oblige as well. So, it’s going to be pretty special and again, night one, night two, if you’re asking me, there’s really nothing bigger than that.”

Owens would then explain how he felt seeing Austin accept his WrestleMania invite, admitting that it felt ‘surreal’ to hear his all-time favorite wrestler say his name for the first time.

“To be honest, when I was watching it and he said Kevin Owens, when my name came out of his mouth, that was so surreal and then ya know, he closed it by saying he’s coming to open one last can of whoop-ass on me, I appreciate the sentiment that he has this much confidence in himself at this point but we’ll see what happens there. Just the fact that I get to be in the ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania, ya know, last year I wrestled Sami Zayn at WrestleMania and after our journey together to get to that point, I really felt that was the defining moment of my career of what WrestleMania’s like, to scratch and claw with someone for that long and then to get to face each other at WrestleMania, like how’s that ever going to get any better? But this year threw me a curveball because now I get to be in the ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin, who was my absolute favorite wrestler of all-time, it’s so surreal, it’s really incredible to get to do this. I’ve been in WWE for seven years, so you’d think with these moments, you’d eventually get used to them, but you really don’t. Once in a while, something will happen where I’ll go ‘this is really crazy!’ and this Stone Cold thing at WrestleMania may be the craziest of them all.”

Owens explained how the process of the program between him and Austin came together. Owens notes that it was more simple than anyone could imagine.

“I called him out. Ya know, several years ago I went to Steve and asked him if I could use the stunner as my finishing move and he said yes. He was very happy that I had actually asked him, so I always thought there was some sort of link between he and I because of that, so, when I was sitting there contemplating WrestleMania and what I possibly wanted to do and what the biggest thing I could do would be, it would seem like a natural progression seeing where it was and where my career has gone the last few years. So, I’m really glad that it’s all working out the way it is because like I said, it’s going to be a moment that I’ll definitely always remember and I can’t imagine that it won’t be one of the top three things that’s ever happened to me in my career.”
