Renee Young’s appointment to the full-time WWE RAW announce team has attracted quite a bit of mainstream media coverage. The first female member of the announce team and a Toronto native was featured in an article in the Toronto Sun. The article by Jan Murphy gives a brief overview of Young’s early career before focusing on her new position.
Young credits current Raw play-by-play commentator Michael Cole, as well as Triple H (Paul Levesque, WWE’s executive vice-president of Talent, Live Events and Creative), and Stephanie McMahon (chief brand officer), and Kevin Dunn (Executive VP, Television Production), for helping her rise to her current role.
“Michael Cole has been there from literally the get-go,” Young said. “He’s somebody that I’ve leaned on many different times. He’s a great mentor, a great friend. Triple H is so open to new ideas and just seeing what people can bring to the table. He’s so great at helping people with the skill that they have and letting that flourish.
