The WrestleZone crew was on hand for the Andy Kaufman panel at Starrcast and noted the following interesting quotes from Jerry Lawler regarding the man on the moon movie and what Vince McMahon felt about the Andy Kaufman angle in Memphis. It appears that Vince was quite jealous of that angle and also admitted that he didn’t think the WWF, which was still run by his father at the time, wouldn’t have been able to do it as well as they did down in Memphis. Also, Lawler said a concession had to be made or Lawler to make the Man On The Moon movie in 1999:
Jerry Lawler just said that Vince McMahon was jealous of the Lawler/Kaufman angle, also that Vince didn't think WWF would've done it as well

Lawler says that the only way he could get time off to shoot Man On The Moon was if JR got a part in the film.#STARRCASTonFITE
