Ricochet Opens Up About Awkward First Encounter W/ Rey Mysterio & What It's Like Learning From Shawn Michaels

NXT Superstar Ricochet recently guested on E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness and shot the breeze with Christian and WWE Hall of Famer Edge.

Ricochet talked about a very memorable first encounter with Rey Mysterio,

“I remember the first time really meeting him [Rey Mysterio] I walked into the room and Konnan’s like, ‘Oh yeah, here he is. That’s the guy saying he was better than you.’ I was like, ‘What are you doing? Why did you say that?’ I didn’t know Rey. I didn’t know how cool he was. I’m like, ‘Why would you say that? He probably hates me now.’ That’s just Konnan. Rey’s the coolest guy in the whole world and he’s the man.”

Ricochet also talked about what it’s like to learn from WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, who now serves as a trainer at the NXT Performance Center,

“He thinks so differently than I ever did. Now, I tend to watch wrestling – or even if I’m trying to make a match or think about it – I think about it in a whole different way now, in the best way possible. He was telling me that one day, ‘In a good way?’ Yes, in a great way. A lot of times it’s pretty hard to take things away because he’ll be sitting there talking and I’ll be thinking to myself, ‘I wonder if he knows, he’s Shawn Michaels right now.’ I wonder if he understands who he is. It’s so cool. He’s completely open. If we have a question at 10 o’clock at night, you can message him or call him. He’s gonna answer you back almost immediately. He’s so helpful and so hands on with us when he doesn’t have to be. He really is and he really wants to help us. It’s so cool.”
