I’m Just An Advocate: Five Acts That Would Flourish Under Paul Heyman

3. Shayna Baszler

Like Lesnar and like Punk, Shayna Baszler has a personality that can stand on her own, but pairing her up with Paul makes her look even more evil, even more underhanded and villainous when she inevitably goes face to face with ex-friend Ronda Rousey. Let’s stay current with a comic book comparison: Rousey is Spider-Man to Baszler’s Eddie Brock (not the Tom Hardy version, but the “envious photo journalist to Peter Parker” version). Heyman is the evil symbiote that takes over and enhances her into Venom. What you have is a historic rivalry that’s worthy of being printed in halftone or headlining a future WrestleMania.

4. Goldust

Just like Goldust himself, this alliance is a bit bizarre, but his and Heyman’s ties are rooted in history. Goldust has had his run-ins with Paul way back in the early 1990s when Heyman formed his Dangerous Alliance in WCW and Dustin Rhodes was known for his “Natural” abilities as a chip off Dusty’s block. Heyman had the likes of Arn Anderson, Larry Zybysko and Bobby Eaton feuding with Rhodes who fought alongside Barry Windham for the WCW Tag Team Titles and Goldie even took part facing off against Paul’s posse in the classic Wargames match of WrestlerWar 1992.

With Goldust being on the DL with knee surgeries and Heyman likely going to be a man without a country, why not continue Goldust’s career renaissance when he returns with a new mean streak and a new advocate that aids him in further discovering the fountain of youth? Nostalgia is a big trend for WWE’s hotbed demographic and a re-imagined Goldust in a main event position would very much make waves at the top of the card.

5. Dean Ambrose

If we were truly to look within ourselves, toss all optimism aside at a Reigns heel turn and follow the pattern that Vince so stubbornly sticks to, then Heyman corrupting Dean Ambrose would be a decent consolation. The Lunatic Fringe version of Ambrose has been an underwhelming path for Dean upward mobility. Being subjected to condiment squirting and slapstick comedy would make any man lose his “Moxley”, but pairing Dean up with Paul would legitimize Ambrose and would channel the lunacy in a more serious direction.
