Mickie James comments on balancing her wrestling career along with songwriting:

I feel like it provides a balance for me, because obviously wrestling is so ‘aggro’ and adrenaline based. I feel like my music at least allows me to release the other side of me, a more vulnerable and sensitive side. We travel so much and obviously we are in a lot of cars a lot of the time, so I get a lot of [time for the] radio, so I’ve always had a connection with music. It’s always spoken to me and I just think there’s certain stories that take you back to a certain place like your first kiss or these different places and monumental moments in your life. It just means the world to me and I just love it.

Does it provide an escape for her?

Sure, because it’s a completely different emotion I think you’re releasing. There are very much parallels in the lifestyles because you have to travel so much and you’re so busy—luckily I like to travel I guess.

How are things going in WWE?

It’s incredible. I just came back for my second run, and it was kind of a surprise for me, especially coming back after having a son. He’s going on four years old—unbelievable—they always say it flies, but no, it’s overnight. But to come back after that, it’s definitely changed my perception and my goals of why I’m doing a lot of the things that I’m doing. When you’re young and having fun, and traveling the world, making money and doing whatever, and now it’s like ‘college funds?’

Mickie also debuted a new single during the show, which is in the link below.
