Batista Defends Recently Fired Guardians Of The Galaxy Director James Gunn

Former WWE Superstar Batista took to Twitter to defend recently fired Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.

Batista, who plays the role of Drax the Destroyer in the Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, tweeted the following:

Gunn was dismissed by Marvel after offensive tweets were unearthed nearly a decade after being written. Gunn’s tweets have since been deleted; but, screenshots have captured some of his deeply insensitive remarks such as,

“Laughter is the best medicine. That’s why I laugh at people with AIDS.”

Gunn has since issued an apology for the tweets and expressed regret; however, Walt Disney chairman Alan Horn remains unmoved,

“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”

Batista isn’t alone in his defense of Gunn.

Ant-Man actor David Dastmalchian also posted the following to his Instagram account:
