30-Minute Iron Man Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dolph Ziggler (c) vs Seth Rollins
Prediction by Ryan Anderson
Seth Rollins has been on a hot streak since WrestleMania 34. His greatest trick has been able to reignite Dolph Ziggler’s career from resident wrestler that all the new wrestlers’ defeat, to a featured guy who is showing what we have already known for years – that Dolph Ziggler is a top tier player in WWE. I anticipate Dolph Ziggler retaining the WWE Intercontinental Championship here. Hopefully, Dolph Ziggler finally becomes this generations Mr. Perfect. Ziggler would be excellent in the role of the heel champ that groom the next fan favorite to enter the WWE Universal Championship picture. I would like to see Seth Rollins enter a feud with Drew McIntyre after this match to set up Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam to launch (for a second time) Drew McIntyre to the top.
Winner 4-2: Dolph Ziggler.
Prediction by Dominic DeAngelo
It’s unquestionable that Dolph has elevated his game in this feud. He was nearly dead in the water for the past several years with losses, record scratches and unnecessarily screaming during his promos (remember Will Ferrel’s voice immodulation guy on SNL?). I’m still not buying into Zigs though, what would do best for him would be a total exit from WWE (kinda like his buddy Drew), but besides Rousey, Rollins has been WWE’s real face of the company since Mania, more than manufactured Roman, more than A.J. and more than Daniel Bryan. These two are going to put on a stellar show and McIntyre gets involved to keep the belt on Ziggler as Seth turns his attention to the Scotsman with plenty of upswing.
Winner & Still Intercontinental Champion: Dolph Ziggler via pinfall 2-1
Prediction by Ivan Barrera
I was shocked to see Ziggler win the title from Rollins. I was under the impression that Dolph and Drew would go for the tag titles, and that this angle would serve more to build up Drew. It still may. This match is going to be the show stealer given the stipulation and the high adrenaline offense both competitors utilize in the ring. Expect heavy involvement from McIntyre, but also keep in mind that McIntyre may show his true colors and decide to look out in his best interests soon, maybe the next night on Raw. I’d love to see McIntyre on his own. It’d kill Ziggler’s hot streak right now but he’s been up and down so much it doesn’t do any different. I see Ziggler retaining. He doesn’t need to lose the title just yet, and Rollins is my personal vote to face Lesnar at SummerSlam.
