WWE covets mainstream publicity. There would be no shortage of mainstream new outlets looking to cover Ronda Rousey, ex UFC megastar, go against Charlotte Flair in a match that has never been done before.
The reality in 2018 is that WrestleMania is the draw more than ever. The fans have rejected the main event for the last 4 WrestleManias – from fans loudly booing, fans loudly cheering the heel in the match, or just voicing their displeasure with seeing Roman Reigns in the top spot. Heading into one of the most vocal crowds of the year in WWE, WrestleMania 35, and being located in New York/New Jersey the fans want something different. It’s evident.
This match is a walk in the park to imagine. In one corner you have babyface Ronda Rousey who has had a dream to be a professional wrestler ever since she was a child. In the other corner you have evil Charlotte Flair, who at every turn reminds Ronda Rousey that she is only in WWE because she failed in UFC. Charlotte can remind Rousey often that she has defeated everyone in the WWE and Rousey will be no different.
It is Wrestling 101. A sympathetic babyface the fans believe in looking to achieve their dream at WrestleMania against an evil bully who looks to extinguish her dreams.
If WWE wants to make a huge splash at WrestleMania 35 then book the first WWE Women’s Championship main event with two of the most legitimate superstars in WWE right now.
Imagine the mainstream press as Ronda Rousey holds the WWE Women’s Championship over her head as the pyro goes off to end WrestleMania 35.
