WWE Backlash Results (5/6): Styles And Nakamura Battle For The WWE Title, Roman Reigns Wins, More!

IC Title Match Seth Rollins (c) v The Miz: Crowd was hot for both guys, great heat for Miz and great crowd reactions for Seth and overall the crowd was into the match from start to finish. Once it was over, we all know it would be tough to follow.

Raw Women’s Title Match Nia Jax (c) v Alexa Bliss: Overall, crowd wasn’t into this match except for a few spots.

US Title Match Jeff Hardy (c) v Randy Orton: Overall, crowd was into it but comparing it to the IC title match

Daniel Bryan vs Big Cass: Crowd loved Daniel Bryan and loved seeing him back in the ring. However they weren’t really into Big Cass. I felt it was disrespectful for them to chant for Enzo and CM Punk. Do these people not remember how well Cass was doing 2 years ago on his own when Enzo was injured? Also, many of the fans sitting around me felt Cass needed the win, enough they think he sucks.

Smackdown Live Women’s Title Match Carmella (c) v Charlotte Flair: Crowd was definitely more into this match versus the Raw women’s title match as they really are into Charlotte and wanted to see Carmella lose.

WWE Title match AJ Styles (c) v Shinsuke Nakamura: Crowd initially was hot but then got pissy with it not closing the show. They seemed to have won them back up until the ending.

Braun Strowman & Bobby Lashley vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn: Braun got the crowd back into a better mood and overall seemed to like the tag match despite who’d obviously be winning the match.

Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe: Not as many people left as the internet haters and “smarks” would have you believe. Some of those seats sat empty all night long. Some people left right after the conclusion of the WWE Title match. Some people were leaving during this match, decent number of those were parents w/ young children. The crowd was hot for Joe, booed Reigns but still pissy about the title match not going on last. Also, the crowd didn’t care for the long rest holds. Yes, people left as soon as the match was over but I’ve seen that happen going back to my first PPV, Survivor Series 1994. I witnessed this at PPVs all the way through the attitude era (including WrestleMania) up to this past PPV. Also, many fans (adults, yes male adults) rushed up to the barricade after the PPV to get a pic/selfie with Roman. I also find it funny how fans seem to ignore that many people left before and during the Mania 18 and 19 main event as well as Mania 25 and even a small amount of people left during the Mania 20 main event.
