On being “fired” as RAW GM shortly before WrestleMania last year:
MF: I’ve never been a GM for WrestleMania. I got fired right before WrestleMania last year! I knew I had the hip replacement coming up. I remember how cool I thought it would be to be fired at the Nassau Coliseum after WrestleMania, eight days later. When I found out it was going to happen before WrestleMania, I’ll be honest with you Nick, it stung a little bit.
On his RAW GM replacement Kurt Angle’s return to the ring:
MF: I always thought the GM really has to be able to be able to account for himself physically at least once a year. Medically, I can’t do that. As we have seen Kurt was able to fill in when Roman Reigns was out and now he is a key part of this match that, I will go on the record as saying, will be very good. I think it will be. I think they will tell a good story. I think all four people involved are super competitive to a point where it might actually be unhealthy (laughs). I think they will have a great match because of it.
On how he thinks Ronda Rousey is doing as a WWE Superstar:
MF: I like what I’ve seen so far. I know some people are actively rooting against her but I am actively rooting for her. I like it because she shows some vulnerability in there. I think she has, somehow, managed to go into this looking like the underdog instead of being the Baddest Woman On The Planet. Stephanie hit her with that line about, “Well, we all know how you handle loses,” and anyone who knows Ronda’s history knows that touches a sore spot. That’s what Terry Funk would call “borderlining”. That’s working in a tender, emotional area for Ronda. I think she’ll do well. Like I said, these are some real perfectionists and very competitive people.
Stephanie is competing on the same card as her brother Shane who has accounted for himself very well the past few Manias. If you don’t think that rivalry is real then… you don’t know the McMahons. I think it’s going to be very interesting.
