Why Not To Panic Over Unannounced WrestleMania 34 Matches

Why Not To Panic Over Unannounced WrestleMania 34 Matches

Next week are the go-home shows for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live, and if you look at the currently scheduled lineup of matches for WrestleMania 34, you’ll notice some gaps in the card.

John Cena has yet to receive word from The Undertaker, plenty of people haven’t been booked for the two battle royals, we still don’t know Braun Strowman’s partner and a few other elements are lingering around in an air of confusion.

WWE still hasn’t even put up a graphic on the website for the women’s battle royal, even though they did release a picture of a questionable trophy design. Yeesh.

Normally, I would be panicking about this, as I’m someone who is incredibly frustrated when it’s just a day or two before a pay-per-view and there aren’t any matches announced for the kickoff or something along those lines. It bugs me to no end to have to check WWE’s Twitter account Friday afternoon before an event to get an announcement of what matches they forgot to advertise in advance and are throwing onto the card at the last minute.

However, it’s okay that we’re at this point right now for WrestleMania. This is the biggest event of the year, but there’s no need to worry.

Reports have suggested that Vince McMahon’s philosophy behind this is that the card is already strong enough as it is and announcing the last few pieces of the puzzle this week wasn’t necessary as it’s doubtful more tickets would have been sold at a quicker pace than needed.

I’m in full agreement with that idea this time around as WrestleMania is a different animal to every other type of event.

It’s the Super Bowl of professional wrestling, as stated a million times for the past 34 years. If you’re someone who is interested in WWE it’s likely the one show per year that you won’t miss. Even casual fans who don’t regularly tune in frequently will set aside some time to gather with friends and check out this event just because it’s WrestleMania, without having a clue what feuds are going on at the moment.

Even if we ignore the idea that there’s a portion of the audience only interested in the big mainstream names like Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey, as well as the viewers like you and I (likely) who watch WWE all the time no matter what’s going on, the people who are worried about these remaining few parts to the card not being solidified right now aren’t giving enough credit to the five hours of programming still left to air and the potential that lies during those shows.
