After speaking to a reliable source close to the situation WrestleZone can confirm that there was a backstage belief in WWE that Vince McMahon was worried Matt Hardy’s “The Ultimate Deletion” would bomb on RAW.
With that said, The Ultimate Deletion is now being considered a success amongst WWE management. This is due to it’s huge social media reaction (it was the #1 trend worldwide for over two hours) and the fact that it retained over 3 million viewers for the final hour of RAW and the overrun.
There’s no way that final hour of viewership for RAW can be looked at as anything less than a victory when you look at the regular third hour viewership for RAW since the beginning of 2018.
WrestleZone can also confirm that it was a struggle to get The Ultimate Deletion on WWE programming but following the success of it this could be Hardy’s foot in the door to produce more content like it.
