Dave Meltzer recently commented on the possibility of WWE running longer events in light of the news that the company would be bringing back a dual brand pay-per-view format.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (*published before today’s PPV format announcement), Meltzer stated it was not official, but there was a belief within WWE that a longer runtime for pay-per-views would be the result of trying to fit both brands’ top stars on all of the shows.

It was noted that every show would now be ‘five hours long’, but so it’s not taken out of context, I’d think this would mean an hour long pre-show and the four hour event, like the ‘big four’ events are now.
