Daniel Bryan opened tonight’s episode of Smackdown Live by telling Shane McMahon he stepped in at Clash Of Champions to protect Shane McMahon from himself.
Bryan started the show alone, but Shane came to the ring and talked about what he was thinking when he stopped counting the pin for Sami Zayn on Sunday. He said he momentarily lost focus, but he doesn’t need protection from Bryan, and Bryan replied to the contrary.
Bryan said he did it to protect their idea of Smackdown being the land of opportunity, and he didn’t want to see Shane turn into Mr. McMahon. Shane said he knows this will all come back and bite Bryan in the ass business wise, and Bryan asks if he was supposed to what was best for business? Bryan says if they aren’t on the same page anymore, that’s fine, but he can fire him if Shane wants to cut someone loose. Shane says he trusts and respects Bryan, then tells him good luck with the show tonight.
