After intermission a video package declares that “Switchblade is coming.”
6th Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi & Togi Makabe vs. Juice Robinson & Kota Ibushi
Kota and Hiroshi started the match and it quickly became Kota vs. Hiroshi and Juice vs. Togi. The veterans put up a vicious fight, but Ibushi & Robinson answered back with wild offense. Juice hit Pulp Friction on Makabe to get the win for his team.
WINNERS: Kota Ibushi & Juice Robinson.
After the match, Tanahashi and Ibushi stared each other down, with Tanahashi holding the IWGP Intercontinental Championship Belt high.
7th Match: IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion KUSHIDA vs. Will Ospreay.
Ospreay enters the match 0-4 against KUSHIDA. KUSHIDA spent the match weakening Ospreay’s limbs, while Ospreay spent the match trying to use his agility to stay out of the champ’s vice-like claws. KUSHIDA also used plenty of agile attacks as well, as the two men attempted to one up each other’s acrobatics. There are names for the moves both men used, but this author doesn’t have the proper words. This was an inventive battle, that eventually saw Ospreay and KUSHIDA ceaselessly countering each other’s finishers until Will Ospreay hits the Osscutter for the pinfall.
WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Will Ospreay.
After the match, Hiromu Takahashi attempts to challenge Ospreay for the belt, but Marty Scurll used his Finger Snap on Hiromu and issued his own challenge.
8th Match: Tetsuya Naito vs. Tomohiro Ishii.
Naito spent the the match doing everything in his power to slow down the relentless assault from Ishii. Ishii brought chops, slaps, forearms, kicks, in an all out assault. Both men spent the majority of the match attempting to hit their finishers. Eventually both men kicked out of each other’s finishers, but Naito countered the Brainbuster twice with Destino to get the win, and assure his spot in the Wrestle Kingdom 12 Main Event.
WINNER: Tetsuya Naito.
