WWE NXT Results (8/30): Strong Fights For Honor Against Roode, Adam Cole Makes His Mark!

Rodrick Strong vs Bobby Roode

Roode tells Strong that he is a failure. This will always be his NXT. Roode tries to do the Glorious taunt but Strong pushes Roode to the mat. Strong almost hits a back breaker but Roode counters into a headlock takeover. Strong stands up and sends Roode into the ropes. Dropkick by Strong. Roode stumbles into the corner. Multiple chops by Strong. Strong whips Roode into the opposite corner. Strong charges in but Roode gets a boot up. Strong catches Roode’s foot. Strong picks up Roode and hits the baby cradle back breaker. Roode cowers near the bottom rope. Strong grabs Roode’s legs and pulls him into another back. Roode rolls to the outside. Strong sets up another back breaker but Roode pushes Strong into the ring steps. Spine buster on the floor by Roode. After the break, Roode whips Strong into the corner hard. Roode only gets a one count. Roode locks in a surf board stretch. Strong fights out of it only to walk into a Manhattan drop. Roode hits the ropes but runs into a flapjack gut buster by Strong.

Uranage into a back breaker for a long two count by Strong. Butterfly bomb by Strong. Roode kicks out but Strong transitions into a Boston crab. Roode gets to the bottom rope to break the hold. TKO by Roode. Strong kicks out. Strong lands a few strikes. Roode blasts him with a spine buster. Roode attempts the Glorious DDT but Strong counters and lands the Angle slam. C4 by Strong. Roode somehow still kicks out. Roode rolls out to the apron. Strong tries to retrieve him but Roode stuns him on the top rope. Roode goes up top. Strong cuts him off. Roode lands a right that sends Strong down to the canvas. Strong pops up and enziguris Roode. Superplex by Strong. Roode kicks out yet again. Strong and Roode trade strikes. Strong goes for a leaping knee but Roode moves out of the way. Strong almost strikes the referee. Roode hits the Glorious DDT. Strong rolls closer to the ropes. Strong gets his foot on the rope to break the pin. Roode grabs Strong by the head and tells him he is an embarrassment to his family. Strong fires up and obliterates Roode with three leaping knees. Strong Breaker by Strong. Strong picks up Roode, blows him a kiss, then hits another Strong Breaker for the win!

Winner- Roderick Strong

After the match, Drew McIntyre walks out on the ramp and holds up the NXT title. Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly attack McIntyre on the stage. Cole DDTs McIntyre on the stage. The ROH alumns scream that this is now their NXT as the run to the back. Regal follows them but can’t keep up.
