WWE Stars Debut at The Garden

In case you haven’t heard yet, AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens at Friday night’s ultra stacked Madison Square Garden live event to become the brand new WWE United States Champion. That’s two leaders of the Bullet Club faction to hold U.S. gold in the last week…

WWE took to Twitter shortly after the event to congratulate several Superstars on making their debuts in the historic arena. That included yet another Bullet Club leader in Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Bayley, Nia Jax, 205 Live Superstar Cedric Alexander, and former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Shinsuke Nakamura.

NJPW Star Critical of Recent Commentary

New Japan Pro Wrestling star and long-time Bullet Club member Tama Tonga openly criticized the English commentary team at last weekend’s G1 USA specials in Long Beach, California. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross and UFC legend Josh Barnett called the shows during the two-day tour, and came under some pretty heavy fire from the internet after making a mountain of errors. JR and Barnett are the duo used by AXS for their NJPW shows on Friday nights, and were signed on for the Long Beach events as AXS produced the live broadcasts.

Kevin Kelly and Don Callas make up the team of announcers that work directly with the promotion calling matches live in Japan, and will return to the booth on July 17th for the start of the G1 Climax. Brand new IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega also posted on Twitter, shortly before Tama Tonga, that he “can’t wait to hear” Kevin and Don return to New Japan World. I was also told by one source that the two may be re-recording the Long Beach shows for New Japan World in the next few weeks, but that has yet to be confirmed.
