Figure Friday: Ringside Collectibles Exclusive Storm Collectibles Hollywood Hulk Hogan (Photos)

Welcome to Figure Friday! Today we take a look at the RingsideCollectibles.com‘s Exclusive Storm Collectibles Hollywood Hulk Hogan 6-inch action figure, brother! This figure is only available from Ringside and is honestly one of my favorite figures of the year! Let’s take a look at him up close!

Before we dive into the review I’d just like to say how long I have waited for a super articulated Hollywood Hogan figure to be made. This figure is not licensed through WWE, which is why you won’t see any nWo attire on this figure. After Hogan’s whole fiasco as of late WWE dropped ties with him, canceling Mattel’s nWo Defining Moments figure of him we saw years back. Thankfully Ringside came to the rescue and teamed up with Storm Collectibles to bring us this fantastic figure, which honestly is probably a lot better than the Defining Moments one we would’ve gotten. That being said, let’s look at him.

Hogan is in fact in scale with the Mattel figures, which is fantastic news as a lot of people were concerned after those SH Figurarts WWE figures released and were smaller. Hogan does come in a slimmer style window packaging. You can see his bandana is off, as well as his glasses, spare hands, boas and display stand. On the back it shows you him posed as well as all his accessories laid out. The packaging is small, which is great for storage and/or display purposes.

Moving on to him out of the packaging, this figure is flat out awesome. I’m a Hulkamaniac if you couldn’t tell and have wanted Hogan like this for so long. The detail on this figure is fantastic. He has a lot of extra articulation than a typical Mattel Elite figure has. The clothing and boas make the figure that much better, but he does have a few “flaws” to those who are not used to the Storm Collectibles figures.

This figure has a ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed chest, wrists and arms as well as ball-jointed legs and ankles, but also a ball-jointed waist, too. Not to mention he has shoulder blade joints for even more posing. He also has double-jointed elbows and knees as well as toe joints (not double-jointed). If you don’t understand what all of that means, it means you can pose him super well. His hands are very easy to swap as they just pop off, just be careful not to lose them as they’re small. You can easily remove his bandana, glasses, shirt and necklace as they slide on and off with ease, something you’ll notice a lot about this figure. Everything is pretty easy to remove/put on until you get to his belt, which is where a lot of complaints have surfaced about this figure.

His belt is made of a thin rubber, as is his crotch piece, making it a bit of a nightmare to put back on once removed as rubber on rubber is not easy to work with. The belt helps hide the gap between his torso and legs, which is great if you know how to conceal the gap. I recommend carefully pulling the belt over the gap, it stretches a bit since it’s rubber, so you can conceal it.  The belt does have latches to fasten, but because it’s a thin rubber it doesn’t cooperate all that well. Just be careful and patient with this part of the figure as it can be frustrating.

Besides that, the detail on the figure is amazing. Just looking at his tights and boots, even the trim on his kneepads, Storm Collectibles did a great job. If I had to nitpick something I’d say that I wish his glasses were white and black instead of all black. Besides that maybe some interchangeable heads and even more hands to do more of his taunts would’ve been a great addition. Otherwise the figure is great. He fits in well with your Mattel collection, which is a huge bonus.

I seriously highly recommend picking this figure up. I hope it does well enough that Ringside ends up doing a red/yellow tie dye version as that’s long overdue as well. If you want to give your figure an nWo cloth shirt instead I recommend checking out Ring Bling Customs on Facebook as they make some awesome wrestling figure shirts that look as good as the ones that come with the figures! Anyway, pick up Hogan now on RingsideCollectibles.com and add him to your collection, you won’t regret it, brother!
