Welcome to WZ’s live coverage of the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame! The show kicks off with a great video package highlighting all of the past WWE Hall of Fame inductees. Tonight, we celebrate the class of 2017! Jerry “The King” Lawler will be acting as the Master of Ceremonies.
Master of Ceremonies Jerry “The King” Lawler –
Lawler says that tonight they are going to honor some tremendously talented individuals. From a nightclub owner turned world champion, to a Glamazon. These individuals have each left a mark on this industry and help make the WWE what it is today. Let’s go ahead and get started with a man who always leaves with a BANG!
Eric Bischoff-
Bischoff makes his way to the podium to a great reception. Bischoff says the word heart… according to one definition is an organ that pumps blood through the circulatory system. We will get back to that in a few minutes. Bischoff says he wishes he was sharing the stage with Dusty Rhodes to inducted DDP. Bischoff says he is amazed by the journey that DDP has been on. When he first met DDP he was the manager for a tag team called Bad Company. Bischoff recalls some of the criticisms that were hurled at DDP back then. Ray Stevens said DDP was way too big to manage Bad Company. Bischoff says he understands that Criticism. Just close your eyes and imagine Paul Heyman at 6’11 completely shredded managing Brock Lesnar. That said, DDP has always been a character. In fact, at one point Bischoff and DDP got into a bar fight. When DDP left the AWA and joined WCW Bischoff did not shed a tear. DDP when on to recruit Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and even got a spot as a commentator on WCW TV. When AWA was ready to close the door Bischoff tried to get a job with WCW.Bischoff walked into the door for his audition and the color commentator for it was none other than DDP. DDP went out of his way to make sure Bischoff got the job. Bischoff says he admired DDP’s passion and commitment. Bischoff admired that DDP went to the Power Plant to train as a pro wrestler at the age of 35. Because of DDP’s heart two WWE Hall of Famers are here to watch DDP be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
