The New Day defended it’s WWE Tag Team Titles in a triple threat tag team match on Monday Night Raw. Not only were the titles on the line but also a chance to become the longest reigning tag team champions. Cesaro took control of the match, but then the New Day broke up Cesaro’s submission hold. Later Kofi Kingston hit Sheamus with the Trouble in Paradise to retain the titles for his team.
It seemed like New Day were poised to break Demolitions long-running record, but after their victory celebration got a little bit out of hand and Stephanie McMahon ended up covered in champagne, the Raw Commissioner announced a second defense for the tag team champions tonight! It will be The New Day taking on none other than WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and his “best friend” Chris Jericho, just days before they do battle with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, respectively, at WWE Battleground.
