Bayley Talks the Goal of Making Women’s Wrestling a Big Thing, How the Main Roster Differs From NXT, Staying Positive, Being a Role Model

WWE Raw star Bayley recently appeared on the “Card Subject to Change” podcast which you can listen to in full at this link. Below are some interview highlights:

On How It’s Like Being On the Main Roster:

It’s tough but it’s all worth it. It’s been a long road for me coming from NXT. I’ve been with NXT for almost 4 years, and just getting to WWE and now being able to travel with them; I kind of have to make new friends and get hotel rooms, and travel in different cities every night, it’s very different, but it’s so much fun. All the hard work that I had with NXT has prepared me for this.

On Whether She Was Frustrated Not Being Called Up Sooner:

There were times yes, but I think I was very lucky to be there. Even when Sasha, Becky and Charlotte were called to WWE, and I spent another year there, I think looking back now I had learned the most because I was really on my own and then having to work with all sorts of different levels of women, it kind of grouped me to this.

On the Goal of Making Women’s Wrestling A Big Thing:

It’s something that we wanted from the very beginning when we all met. It has been the common goal to make Women’s wrestling as big as we could, even bigger than it used to be when we grew up watching it; I think we’ve been doing a good job in making it grow to what it is.

How to Stay Positive on the Road:

For me, I always want to remember on what I would be doing if I were back home; and if I wasn’t working for WWE, or what I was doing before this, which was honestly, I was working at a pet’s store. I was working to make money to get to go travel and do wrestling shows. I was buying new wrestling gear. I was always working towards this and I just try to remember that I could be back working at the pet store barely making any money, or I can be stuck in California and not be able to travel the world. This is my fourth time visiting the UK, and I am very lucky and have to remember the little kid inside of me that is so happy.

On Being a Role Model to Little Girls:

It’s really cool. That was always my goal because I always said that I wanted to make the kids feel the way that I did when I came to shows, so that is what I have been trying to do. I didn’t think it would get to the point where people were dressing as me for Halloween. It’s very humbling, it’s very weird to me, but I love it though.
