Celebrating 21 Years of Goldust
Wrestling legend Dustin Runnels is celebrating 21 years as the character Goldust. He thanked Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H on Twitter this afternoon. Runnels worked his first match as the character on October 22, 1995 at WWF In Your House 4 against Marty Jannetty, on a show headlined by Diesel defending the WWF Championship against The British Bulldog.
Because of his bizarre and flamboyant character at a pivotal time in U.S. pop culture, the Goldust character was a large part of the Attitude Era’s midcard in WWF. He is a three-time Intercontinental Champion, a nine-time Hardcore Champion, and a three-time tag team champion, once with Booker T and twice with real-life brother Cody Rhodes, all with the Goldust character.
