Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz at tonight’s WWE No Mercy pay-per-view to become the new Intercontinental Champion, saving his career in a last-chance match that would have seen Ziggler retire from WWE for good if he lost.
As we reported earlier tonight, Mike Mondo and Kenny Dykstra of the old Spirit Squad faction were backstage for tonight’s show, and indeed made an appearance during the back-and-forth match. Miz almost defeated the “Showoff” with a Skull Crushing Finale following interference from Mondo and Dykstra, but Ziggler was able to mount one final comeback and finish off Miz with a superkick after the referee ejected the distractions from ringside.
Dolph Ziggler is now four-time Intercontinental Champion, a one-time United States Champion, tag team champion, and two-time World Heavyweight Champion.
