The open of today’s Wrestling Reality podcast on TribLIVE Radio that’s only available for download, I comment on the rumors of the possibility of WWE purchasing TNA, what I’ve heard on it and why they would do it.

Yesterday, Monday afternoon in the 3 o’clock hour I tweeted Is WWE about to do it again? #BigBang

I’m here to say that it’s very possible they might do IT again. First started over a week ago when the New York Post made note that WWE actually put a bid in to purchase TNA. A lot of chatter came from that. I reached out to WWE and they responded with they “respectfully declined.” Was happy they got back to me but raised my eyebrows and thought it was interesting they respectfully declined rather than saying not we’re not and dismissing it. Anyways, fast forward a week later I see myself and other are all sniffing the same paper trail of clues. Yes, WWE is legitimately and seriously in the running to purchase TNA Wrestling. It’s going to come down to WWE or Billy Corgan. I’ve talked people of various levels in both of WWE and TNA. The old guard is apparently undermining Billy Corgan in a lot of ways and it’s an ongoing soap opera. I think a lot of talent would like Corgan to take over but it’s ultimately going to come down to who Dixie Carter sells it to. You might ask yourself why? Well, I don’t necessarily agree with it all but from what I’ve heard is well, let’s not beat around the bush, there is some ego. It’s business. But, the talent pool—they would like to deepen the talent pool. Talent is the most precious commodity in the business they are in. Talent and characters expire with the audience, injuries as well so you want to deepen the pool whether it be NXT or RAW and SmackDown. We see how frequent  injuries have been in the past year and a half especially. As well as add some value to the hardcore fans to the WWE Network. It already has the archive of so many wrestling territories in history and now they can add with TNA. To some fans that’s a big deal and it’s many more hours of content to add to the $9.99 viewing experience.

I talk more about the possibilities of either party being the new owners in the rest of the podcast. CLICK HERE to listen.
