Why Roman Reigns Turning Heel Would Make No Business Sense, Cesaro Leaving WWE?, John Cena Heel Turn Finally?

My Friday column for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is a mail bag of questions. Here’s some highlights:

@KingEdward15: with the Uso’s recently turning heel, will their cousin Roman Reigns follow suit anytime in the near future? #AskLaBar

I don’t expect a Roman Reigns heel turn. The reality is that while he does get boos more than many others do, he also gets cheers more than many others do. Reigns has risen to a level of intense reaction one way or the other.

For some he’s a favorite to hate and for others a favorite, and those who love him spend some big money on Reigns branded merchandise.

It’s the same formula that’s been successful for John Cena for over a decade. Keep him playing on the good guy side of the fence regardless of how some fans or cities might react to him.

Performers getting that kind of noise level out of an arena is a special thing, so no need to deviate from that. If Reigns was turned heel, then those who dislike him now would like him, and those who like now wouldn’t. So it would still be a split crowd but less appealing to a younger demo that is known to spend more of their parents’ money.

@FruitoriousREG: How true are the rumors that cesaro is done with the wwe.

I hadn’t heard of any such rumors recently until reading your tweet. I did some Googling and found what I’m assuming you’re citing, which seems to be headline-grabbing speculation.

Without bashing the specific publication I read, the entire premise seems like darts being tossed up against the wall, claiming he’s possibly leaving hence why WWE had Sheamus look so strong to start the pair’s best-of-seven series.

I don’t know for a fact when Cesaro’s contract is up or what his exact state of mind is, but I can say based on the reasoning in the rumors you’re referring to that they seem to hold no weight.
