Daniel Bryan Teases In-Ring Return and New Japan
On last week’s episode of Talking Smack, Bryan said The Miz wrestled like a “coward”. This made Miz hulk out in what was reportedly a worked shoot, saying he wrestles the way he does so he can perform for the fans every night. Bryan’s harder style, however, has resulted in multiple concussions for the Smackdown GM, which meant WWE forced him to retire back in February this year.
Miz then delivered the money line: “You love wrestling…well why don’t you quit? Why don’t you quit and go to the bingo halls with your indie friends, Daniel?”
Wrestle The Miz’s safer way, perform without getting hurt. Wrestle Bryan’s way, risk an early retirement.
It’s a fascinating debate on the stronger wrestling style that’s crept into WWE over the last few years – especially in what many are calling the Injury Era, the latest victims being WWE’s flagship champions Finn Balor and Sasha Banks.
Bryan ended up walking out on that Talking Smack segment, so he sat down with Renee Young on last night’s episode, where he admitted: “I feel like I’m healthy. If I had any guts, I would quit and go and do the indies. Probably not bingo halls, more like Tokyo Domes.”
The Tokyo Dome venue in Japan is famous for being host to New Japan’s version of Wrestlemania,Wrestle Kingdom.
Leading up to his retirement, Bryan was cleared to wrestle by concussions specialists at both Phoenix and UCLA. It was a non-peer reviewed test in New York that convinced WWE on Bryan’s health issues.
But Forbes are now reporting that WWE have “not completely shut the door” on his in-ring return. With The Miz calling out Bryan in a planned angle on WWE television, this might be the seeds of him wrestling again.
How would you book Daniel Bryan’s wrestling return? Let us know in the comments!
