WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts recently spoke with Mike Jones of DC 101 to promote his new film The Bet, which also stars DDP and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in his last film role. Below are some interview highlights, and you can check out the entire interview in the video below:
Playing his role in The Bet:
“As soon as I found out I was going to be the owner of a gourmet condom company, I said ‘Hell yeah, that’s something I’ve always wanted to do!’ I was all in because the story was just ridiculous and we wanted to have some fun and it shows in the film.”
Missing Roddy Piper and Dusty Rhodes:
“He and Dusty Rhodes, man, they’re irreplaceable. Forget about it, there will never be anybody like Roddy Piper and there will never be anybody like Dusty Rhodes. It just blows my mind that I’m still here and they’re not.”
Reservations about doing The Resurrection Of Jake The Snake Roberts:
“I struggled with doing it at the beginning, because I’ve been burned by some people before. But to do it with Dallas and know that I had total control of the movie. If I didn’t want it to come out, it wouldn’t come out. Trust was a big part of it and once I saw the final product, I thought, ‘you know what, this is going to help so many people.'”
Would he want to return to WWE in some capacity:
“I have so many things I want to do, so many things. When I’m sober and clean and my mind’s working, I’m happy and energetic and I know I can fix this and do that. What do you choose? I don’t know. But, if the WWE did call me, yeah, I’d be right back in there man because I love wrestling and the Lord knows wrestling needs some help right now.”
Nick was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived there until the age of 18, when he decided to pack his flack jacket and move to New York City.
