WWE Brand Split World Titles Revealed?
Our top story today is CM Punk’s controversial comments about WWE and his tease for a wrestling return. But first up is the latest on what a post-brand split WWE is going to look like…
The more pedantic viewers amongst you would’ve noticed a title change on Monday’s episode of Raw. As in a literal change in the title – the belt is now being called something else.
As I pointed out in my Raw in about 4 minutes review – which you can watch on WrestleTalk’s YouTube channel (cheap plug) – Dean Ambrose was referred to as the WWE Champion on Monday’s episode of Raw – not the WWE World Heavyweight Champion as has been the case since Randy Orton unified the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship at the TLC pay-per-view back in December, 2013.
The following day, WWE officially renamed the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as just the ‘WWE Championship’ on their website.
But why does this all matter? You’re getting bogged down in semantics again, Oli. This isn’t just a your/you’re situation again, guys. This is the clearest indication we’ve had so far that the impending brand split on the 19th July will involve having two world champions – one each for both Raw andSmackdown.
The Undertaker’s “Other” Streak
The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at Wrestlemania was infamously ended in 2014 at the hands of Brock Lesnar. A magical piece of the sport was lost, but don’t worry, Taker’s got a new streak going: holy matrimony!
Or ‘unholy’ matrimony if his character is anything to go by.
Undertaker and his wife, former WWE Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, have celebrated going 6-0 years as a married couple. McCool even posted a rare out-of-character photo to her Instagram of her and the Dead Man with the caption ‘6 years…#myheart’. But why Undertaker is cosplaying as Gangrel, I have no idea.
