As seen at last night’s WWE Money in the Bank PPV, Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns to become the new WWE World Champion, only for Dean Ambrose to successfully cash-in Money in the Bank moments later and leave Las Vegas with the title.

According to the most recent edition of The Wrestling Observer, WWE live event attendance has seen a 30% drop in the month of May, with attendance going from an average of 5,600 last year in May to 3,900 this year.

Additionally, it’s being said that while John Cena’s absence certainly had an impact on the attendance figures, the “A” shows and “B” shows had roughly the same exact numbers, and the “A” shows were headlined by Roman Reigns. The “B” shows, which typically took place in smaller markets, were headlined by Ambrose.

On last night’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, host Dave Meltzer had the following to say about Reigns’ drawing power as Champion:

“Last month the ‘B’ shows with Dean Ambrose, that were often in smaller markets, were drawing just as well as the ‘A’ shows with Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns is drawing really bad. Before he wasn’t, but now he is, so now it’s an issue. Does that mean that it led to [the title change], or is this just another way to get Roman Reigns more over, because that’s been the goal for the last however long? Time will tell.”
