NXT TV Taping Notes: La Sombra Gets New Name, Female Debut, Were Joe & Balor at Full Sail Tonight? (No Spoilers)

Below is a collection of miscellaneous notes from tonight’s NXT television taping session at Full Sail University. No worries – there are no match or major plot spoilers for NXT TV or the upcoming NXT Takeover: Revenge live special. For those, make sure to check out our complete TV taping results article (spoiler warning).

-CMLL stand-out La Sombra, who has recently been going by the name Manny Andrade (part of his real name) has been officially branded in NXT as Andrade Cien Almas (loosely translated: Andrade 100 Souls). The former IWGP Intercontinental Champion worked a dark match against Tito Sabatelli before the tapings got underway.

-For those asking, both NXT Champion Samoa Joe and Finn Balor were at Full Sail University tonight for the TV taping event. They worked a tag team dark match with Tye Dillinger and Shinsuke Nakamura. It looks like WWE will be using footage filmed at recent live events to push the story forward between the two in the next few weeks, heading into their cage match at NXT Takeover: Revenge.

-Scottish female stand-out Nikki Storm made her NXT debut in a dark match after the taping, in a losing effort to Adrienne Reese (Athena). Storm was a part of a recent WWE Developmental wave and was expected to make her debut soon.

-And once again, just in case it needs to be said, Bobby Roode did NOT appear at the TV tapings.
