New Era

Shane Shoemaker wrote a new blog on CSRWrestling.com. Here’s a sample:

It’s a subjective topic as always, as with anything with wrestling, but since WrestleMania, Monday night RAW has had three consecutive episodes that have felt mildly different than most episodes pre-WrestleMania. New storylines were established almost immediately on the RAW after WrestleMania, to which AJ Styles became number one contender for the WWE title. The next week, in one of the better episodes in some time, a totally different vibe, with the continued push of new stars and a sense of creative chaos. And then this past Monday, more of the same yet maybe not as memorable.

Just from reading the tweets on Twitter, comments on blog posts on here and other sites, the consensus is that RAW has been a much more watchable show to fans. Sure, there’s the usual whining and complaining on things from certain fans — yes, we all know it doesn’t make sense that Shane McMahon is running RAW since he lost to The Undertaker, please get over it. And of course there’s also the grueling three hours one has to invest into watching the show. But if it has been better, why the drop in ratings?

Are we not finally seeing what we’ve been clamoring to see for months, even years now? You’ve got new stars, you’ve got fresh storylines, you got Shane McMahon — what more do you want?

Well, if you’ve watched the product long enough, you know that after WrestleMania, there’s the hangover. No more big builds to intense feuds. No more returns from legends. No more big media outlets talking about the product. No more big stadiums. All the big moments are over with…or so that’s what WWE has basically told us after all these years.

Fans, at this point, have basically been pre-conditioned to believe there’s not much to get excited for after WrestleMania. It’s usually, at least for the first couple months, repeated feuds from WrestleMania, only with added stipulations. I’m talking about you, Extreme Rules.
