Mickey Gall Comments On Possible CM Punk Fight, Says He’ll Hurt Punk Early, Won’t Waste An Opportunity

dana white looking for a fight - YTMMA fighter Mickey Gall recently spoke with The Sun about possibly fighting CM Punk if he wins his fight at UFC 196.

Gall, who challenged Dana White to book him in the fight against Punk after his last fight, made headlines after it was featured in the “Dana White: Looking For A Fight” reality series. White has announced Gall will get the fight with Punk if he can defeat Mike Jackson in his UFC debut fight on UFC Fight Pass at UFC 196 on February 6.

Gall talks about how exciting it’s been since he was featured on the show (seen in the player below), when he knew about Dana White being at his fight and calling Punk out, his thoughts on Punk in UFC, and much more. You can read a few excerpts below:

Gall about the excitement following his clip from ‘Looking For A Fight’:

“Very surreal – it’s crazy, man! I expected to get to the UFC one day – that was my dream – but I never expected it this quickly. It’s been a fun couple of weeks.

Me and my dad were watching the Robbie Lawler v Carlos Condit fight and suddenly my face pops up on the previews. We rewound it about 10 times! It’s been nuts!  I’ve had three amateur fights. I was 3-0, then I finally got a pro fight in November and that was the one that Dana White happened to be at. Crazy!”

Gall comments on finding out Dana White would be at his fight:

“Frankie Perez, who owns Dead Serious MMA, called me a little less than a month before the fight and said Dana White was going to be there. Immediately as soon as I hung up the phone it was so obvious to me. Right, I’m gonna call out CM Punk! He’s the only guy in the UFC I could fight, because everyone else has a bigger record.

They signed him and they needed to find someone with a (similar) record – a record of 1-0, 0-0, 2-0 – so the commission would approve. It was very calculated. I planned to do that.”

Gall on Punk leaving wrestling for MMA:

“I think it’s a ballsy move. I respect him, he’s made himself a superstar in professional wrestling. He’s obviously a special guy. But I think he’s coming into MMA and against any MMA fighter he’s gonna be in trouble – but especially in trouble with me.”

If he does get the Punk fight by winning at UFC 196, what are his thoughts about the outcome?

“He’s little bit of a mystery. I know he’s training out of a great camp with Roufusport, which is a phenomenal place to be.

I’m gonna prepare for him like he’s the best fighter in the world, I’m gonna train my butt off, that’s how I always go into every fight. I think he’s gonna be used to the lights, used to the big stage – he did WrestleManias and stuff, I’m sure. But when they lock that cage door and I’m in there coming at him looking to kill him I think that’s gonna really fare well for me.

I think I’m gonna hit him and I’m gonna hurt him early.”
