As noted, AJ Styles bid farewell to Revolution Pro Wrestling yesterday when he lost his Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship to Zack Sabre. Following the match, Styles cut a promo saying goodbye to the fans and teased entering the WWE Royal Rumble match.
While it appears as if Styles has yet to officially sign with WWE, all signs point toward him and other top NJPW stars such as Doc Gallows, Shinsuke Namamura and Karl Anderson all signing with WWE.
According to PWTorch.com, both NJPW and Ring of Honor had strong interesting in re-signing Styles, and wanted to book him in main events for several months to come, however WWE apparently “scooped” them by offering Styles a “blow-away deal.”
For those unaware, this won’t be the first time WWE has made AJ Styles an offer, as they reportedly offered him a low ball deal rumored to be for $60,000 per year, which was a drastic pay cut from the rumored $400,000 annual salary he was making in TNA at the time. The low ball offer is why Styles chose to re-sign with TNA and not jump ship to WWE. Since NXT has launched, however, the WWE brand has had a drastic impact on how the company scouts talents and offers deals.
