New Japan Pro Wrestling star AJ Styles, who is rumored to be signing with WWE in the very near future, recently spoke with WhatCulture and revealed who in WWE NXT he would like to face. When asked if he would be available for bookings on the night of the WWE Royal Rumble PPV, Styles simply said, “sure.” As noted, Styles teased during an in-ring promo at tonight’s Revolution Pro Wrestling event that he might be an entrant in this year’s Royal Rumble match. On who in NXT he would want to work with:
“Finn [Balor], I think that’s the one most people would like to see me wrestle,” Styles said. “There are a lot of guys I haven’t worked with [in WWE], and hopefully one day I’ll get to wrestle them before it’s over.”
On his pro wrestling future:
“I love what I do,” Styles said. “I’m going to do what I do the best I can. I’m definitely not an artist but I can paint with the wrestling brush. I think I got some kind of thing going on with that. And I’m going to keep doing that as long as I can. Keep in mind, still gonna be able to walk away from this business. Will I have surgeries? Of course I will because I’m going to get old and I’ve hurt myself, but that’s just the nature of the beast. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
In somewhat related news, during today’s WWE NXT live event in Chicago, Finn Balor cut an in-ring promo and teased a possible “club” in NXT, which was a wink to the Bullet/Balor club and the rumors of top NJPW stars coming into WWE and/or NXT.
