WRESTLEZONE RECAP

–Your Sunday Paper For Pro Wrestling News–

July 26, 2015

hulk-hogan-copy.jpgIn what has basically been the ONLY story this week, spawning nearly forty individual news articles in just four days, Hulk Hogan has been released from his contract with WWE, and all mention of his name, Tough Enough, Hall of Fame status and profile has been completely scrubbed from the company’s official website. Hours later, a transcript of an eight-year-old sex tape revealed a racial tirade in which Hogan not only admitted to being a racist, but dropped the n-word numerous times in a rant about his daughter, Brooke Hogan, allegedly sleeping with a black man.

The story has been all over mainstream, sports and pro wrestling news since the minute the news first broke. At this point, I doubt very much if anyone reading Wrestlezone hasn’t already been overly saturated in Hogan news, so we don’t need to spend a lot of time recapping again. Check out our coverage of the first 24 hours, and if that’s not comprehensive enough, our Hulk Hogan wrestler tag page has everything you need.

On the WWE programming front, the biggest thing effected is Tough Enough, which has dropped the Hulkster as a judge and is scrambling to replace him at the last minute. Another major drawback of the half-taped, half-live format of the current season, which has been mediocre at best as it is. While we will obviously know in the next few days, names being discussed to replace him include The Miz and Chris Jericho, who current act as hosts for the series, Ric Flair and Bret Hart, as we reported exclusively this past week
