Johnny Mundo Talks To Stone Cold Steve Austin About Frustrations While In WWE, Why He Left the Company and More

johnny mundoWWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin interviewed Lucha Underground’s Johnny Mundo, formerly John Morrison in WWE. Johnny Mundo talked about being in the WWE and what was frustrating for him.

When he says he was handcuffed:

“[W]hen I say ‘handcuffed’, sometimes with WWE, I felt like I wanted to be the main event guy,” Mundo said. “I wanted to be the guy that could come up with any idea I wanted and have it happen. And just the way the business works over there, you can’t have that for everybody, you know? You just can’t. It’s impossible. And at Lucha Underground, I am that guy. Like, I’m the main event guy.”

Why he left and what he wanted:

“I wanted a few specific things. Really, what I wanted was more creative autonomy. I just wanted some assurances of that and we were talking about a deal and they wanted me to sign a 3-year deal that was kind of the same deal that I had,” Mundo continued, “because I had that neck injury, and I was still having residual pain, and I hadn’t had time to fully rehab and I jumped back in to the road full time, I feel like I wanted more control over my time.”
