Backstage News on Hernandez’s Current Contractual Situation with Lucha Underground & TNA Wrestling, Has He Been Released?

hernandezAccording to PWInsider.com, Hernandez has officially been released from TNA Wrestling, following a dispute with his Lucha Underground contract status.

After being recommended by MVP to join his Beatdown Clan faction, TNA officials brought Hernandez into the company, and was assured by Hernandez himself that he did not have any contractual obligations to any other company. TNA then made Hernandez sign an agreement presenting himself to TNA as an unrestricted free agent.

Lucha Underground sources noted that Hernandez requested his release from the company, and although his release was in the works, it never officially went through. Lucha Underground was fine with Hernandez taking outside bookings, however they were not okay with him appearing on any other promotion’s televised events until after the Ultima Lucha event, airing on August 5th. Hernandez, however, told TNA he had reached a verbal release agreement with Lucha Underground.

The report also notes TNA told Hernandez they would use his footage if he decided to pursue legal action, but the deadline came and went, so TNA released him from his deal. TNA reportedly told Lucha Underground they would pay the promotion money to use footage they had previously shot featuring Hernandez, but that is a claim Lucha Underground is denying.
