Mick Foley Talks to Chael Sonnen on CM Punk in UFC, NXT Changing Women’s Wrestling, Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania & More

kevin owensThe latest episode of You’re Welcome! With Chael Sonnen has been posted, and this week the UFC veteran sits down with WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley. The two discuss Foley’s one-man-show and taking it easy in 2015, the difference between story-telling and cutting a promo, the all-around art of pro wrestling and, among other subjects, CM Punk

Sonnen tells a funny story about him, CM Punk and a few others guys in Chicago – including “one of the bosses of UFC” – driving to a restaurant in an old, beaten down car that the former WWE Champion had kept because he didn’t want to spend money on a new one.

On Punk’s transition into UFC and his chances of winning a fight:

“I don’t know how he’s going to do. Honestly, I don’t. But I know no one will out-work him. No one will out-train him. He’ll leave it all out there in the octagon. I know he’s taking it very seriously, and we’ll all find out. If he’s not successful, it sure won’t be for a lack of trying.”

Foley also retold the story about Vince McMahon wanting to cover up his face as a stipulation for hiring him back in the 90s, and the role The Undertaker played getting him in the door.

On which NXT star is going to be the next to break through and become a WrestleMania main eventer:

Kevin Owens is getting that huge break, and it came pretty quickly. Finn Balor tore down the house in Japan, and Chris Jericho and Neville had this amazing match. It’s just a matter of which guy catches fire. If WWE does the right thing with women in NXT, they could completely change the way that women’s wrestling is looked at, and contribute to the way women’s sports are looked at as well.”

Is there a woman in WWE who could be the equivalence of Ronda Rousey in UFC?

“Sasha Banks, Ric Flair’s daughter Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Bayley in NXT could come over as a fore-some. I’m afraid if they come over one at a time they’ll get absorbed into the system instead of changing it. If they come over as a fore-some and they do the right thing – and I can’t stress how important this is to me. If I was a politician this would be my one issue I would talk constantly about.”
