What we have here today is the ULTIMATE CRATE from our friends at WrestleCrate.com, the only pro wrestling themed subscription box on the market today. Below I will unbox each item, giving you a breakdown of what’s inside, the estimate retail value, and give a final verdict on whether or not the box is worth the pricetag.
This is the ULTIMATE CRATE for the month of May. To reserve your crate for June, make sure to head on over to WrestleCrate.com and use our exclusive code “WZSENTME” to receive 10% off your first order!
So first thing is first – THE BOX! You can’t have an uboxing without a box.
I absolutely destroyed this thing. It’s probably a good thing this didn’t end up being a video unboxing, because my battle against this impenetrable packaging-tapped-fortress from hell got pretty violent. But seriously guys, maybe a little less tape on the next one. (Cameo from Megamiibo)
Let’s start with some of the smaller items.
ITEM #1 – TNA Abyss Autographed Print
I’m not an autograph collector, but I imagine there are a lot of you out there. Still a pretty cool item for those interested, because I couldn’t find this exact type of thing on-sale through TNA’s website. I appreciate the sleeve it came in to make sure nothing got damaged. Just based on general autograph sales, I’m going to conservatively estimate the value around $9.99.
ITEM #2 – Randy Savage Drink Koozie
Do you drink things? Do you love Randy Savage? Have I got a deal for you! Another item I couldn’t find online, so based on WWE Shop sales of similar drink kooizie’s, I’ll estimate the value around $4.99.
ITEM #3 – Exclusive Seth Rollins Art
I love wrestling art. In particular, I love any sort of stripped-down, simple kind of art. The fact that it’s exclusive to the Wrestle Crate from the awesome guys behind Calling Spots magazine is a bonus. Also, Seth Rollins! This will go nicely on the shelf next to my smaller prints from Rob Schamberger. No idea on the estimated value. We’ll just consider it an awesome bonus.
ITEM #4 – Ring of Honor: WAR
This 2013 event features Kevin Steen in some of his final pre-WWE work as Ring of Honor World Champion. Other stars on the DVD include reDragon, Matt Taven, Jay Lethal, ACH, Roderick Strong, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards as the American Wolves (pre-TNA), Michael Elgin and more. I saw this one recently on-sale through ROH at $9.99.
ITEM #5 – Luchador Dogs T-Shirt
This is awesome. I’ve always wanted to pick up this Tarantino-inspired shirt from our friends at BarbershopWindow.com. These are the sort of excellent items that make subscription boxes totally worth the price. I’m not a huge fan of white t-shirts, but I’ll take it. Estimated value at $19.99.
ITEM #6 – Elite Collection WWE Rusev Action Figure
Here’s the big gun in the Ultimate Crate. This bad boy retails for $24.99 through our friends at RingsideCollectibles.com, and is one of the major reasons to go for the Ultimate Crate over the less expensive Wrestle Crate. This is the most detailed Rusev figure out there, and it comes with a removable “Gold Star of the Russian Federation” and a Russian-colored podium to display the former U.S. champ in all his glory.
THE FINAL VERDICT
The ultimate question with subscription boxes is always, “is it worth my money?” Personally, I think the Ultimate Crate is definitely worth the price tag. You know you’re going to get the bigger items, like the Elite figures or the Funco POP vinyl figures, or the t-shirts, and that’s really what you’re paying for.
The little things like drink koozies and autographs are lost on me, but there are bound to be people out there that will appreciate them. The DVD is a nice touch, and something I will definitely watch through on a day off at some point.
If we break it all down, the retail value of this box – and keep in mind some of my estimates may be off – is just under $70. You’re paying $29.99 for the Ultimate Crate, and as a lover of wrestling action figures, I’ve paid that much for an Elite figure plus shipping and handling before. So basically I’m paying a premium for one of the best figures in my arsenal, and getting an amazing shirt for free, plus some cool art work, a DVD and some fun extras I can give to a friend (or maybe package together with other goodies and give away on Twitter).
This was the May edition of the Ultimate Crate. To reserve your very own crate for June, make sure to hit up WrestleCrate.com and use our exclusive code “WZSENTME” for an extra 10% off your first order!
