Sami Zayn Injury Update
While there is still no official news on the status of NXT Superstar Sami Zayn, after he threw out his shoulder prior to a match with U.S. Champion John Cena on Monday Night Raw this week, one source told the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the injury “appeared to be serious”. There was apparently backstage talk at Tuesday night’s Smackdown taping that Zayn could be out of action 2-3 months rehabbing, after just coming back from an injury to the same shoulder.
Again, that is only one source, and it’s possible that not even WWE or Sami himself knows how serious the issue will be going forward. He was scheduled to work Smackdown but the script was rewritten without him on the card.
While NXT was taped weeks ago, and obvious what airs on the WWE Network this week doesn’t take Monday’s injury into account, they did run a recently recorded voice-over plugging the match with Cena and questioning Zayn’s status for the upcoming NXT Takeover title match on May 20th.
