Every Title On The Line
This week’s episode of Impact Wrestling featured every title on the line. It didn’t start that way, but Rockstar Spud cashed-in his “Feast or Fired” briefcase to round out all four championships being defended. The Wolves retained, as did Taryn Terrell, but Kurt Angle defeated Bobby Lashley in their first-ever match to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Misc. Wrestling News
-TNA will be taping more Impact at Universal Studios in May.
-Ring of Honor star Jimmy Jacobs is joining the WWE creative team.
-Bobby Lashley signed a new long-term deal with both TNA Wrestling and Bellator MMA in the same week. It would appear that while Spike TV is no longer doing business with the wrestling promotion, neither is turning down the free publicity the other offers for one of their top stars. It would be interesting that he dropped the title the same week this was all announced, except that they tape months in advance.
–WWE announced a tournament for Axxess that will see four NXT stars compete for a spot in the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal.
-Both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are out with injury.
-Ideas for Sheamus’ return are still being discussed, but he may be back in action as soon as WrestleMania. Nothing is certain yet though. Why they began airing weekly return vignettes six weeks ago, I have no idea.
-Big update on WWE Network subscribers in Canada.
-El Rey is expected to sign a second season of Lucha Underground soon. The original plan was always to record 36 episodes for the first season, take a break for the summer months, then come back strong during TV premiere season. They are looking into former TNA star Sonjay Dutt.
